Hello all,
I am at present restoring a prototype 101" Forward Control and I need your help. Once released from Land-Rover in the early 70's my vehicle seemed to lose two of its original early type wheels - Probably due to many tyre changes with production vehicles over the years. What I am asking is, if you have any spare wheels lying about or even on your vehicle - if your prepared to exchange one. To have a look to see if its an early or production wheel. I have attached a couple of pictures for your reference.

The only way you can tell is on the rear of the wheel where the centre is attached to the outer rim. The first picture above shows a standard production rim.

The second picture shows an early rim with four flanges, each with three rivets to attach the centre to the outer rim. The production rim has a continuous flange with sixteen rivets in total and was probably made like this to give it more strength.

Call me a rivet counter, anorak or what ever but I think attention to detail is very important on a historical vehicle like this.

The deal is; I will give you a good used replacement production rim for the early one. Plus a cash adjustment for any tyre changing etc. (to be discussed)
Please PM me or give me a ring on 07941 208753.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give to this very worthwhile project,

Ray Adams

I really didn't expect to find anything different on mine, but thought I'd pop outside to have a look anyway. Sadly can't help.

Spongie,
Thank you for taking the time to have a look. They must be out there somewhere.

I too have just checked the 6 rims I have in the shed and alas all mine are the later type. Postage would have been a bugger but if I'd have had one at least it would have been a backup!!

Hi Ray, have also check all my 101 wheels, and all are standard production ones. Good Luck in your search.

Hi Ray, all standard on mine sorry. They are very similar in design to the rims on my 2b.

Sorry, mine are the later type. I'll check my spare rims in my other garage this week and report back if they are early ones, but doubt think they are!

Good luck!

Could only get to 2 of mine which are off the vehicle currently, and they are both production type.

Cheers
