Welcome,
In May 2014 there will be an international 101 forward control gathering for forward control owners & there families
It will take place on a campingsite in the Ardennes, Belgium.

You are welcome from Wednesday 28 may till sunday 1-june , If you want to stay shorter or longer it's ok.

Ingredients?:
Camp-fire, BYO BBQ, BYO beer.
I'm trying to arrange an activity like some mud driving, a tour or hill-climbing.
Be free to go own way! On the camping site it is possible to arrange some outdoor activities.

Sound like fun. Shortish run, Date looks OK so I'm putting my hand up.

Nothing sure how long I could sit still for!

Is there any legal paperwork absolutely essential to getting an ex-military vehicle in and around Europe?

Technically you should have a military export licence, but I tried to get one and screwed up the application on the website and could not recover it so went without, 4 times to Belgium and Holland. I have had no problems, they search me on the way out for weapons and explosives but never on the way back !,

Just take your std driving docs with a green card for insurance and you should not have any probs, ( well I never have ).

I was thinking of travelling on the Wednesday, but love to hook up and arrive in convoy so may alter my plans to suit who ever is going.

I was thinking of the Dover- Dunkirk crossing saves a few miles driving.

Les

FYI The licensing system was replaced last month and I think you can just download one and it's up to you to ensure you comply.

That isn't the actual licence you download. Look at page 2 - you still need to apply for a Spire licence/reference number

I assume they have changed it now because the original process wasn't pointlessly complicated enough!

Actually you are probably right. You used to have to apply for an individual OGEL but it looks like the download may be it!

I'm thinking of going along

Have spoken with BIS about temp export licence and so will proceed with this. (I'm going to get one. Knowing my luck!!) For info you do have to register with Spire and get an account before you can do anything. They check you out! From the pdf file they sent me, you apply for an OGL ignoring name of company and the classification for a military ground vehicle is ML6 a. - I think. They couldn't make it any more confusing if they tried.

Also started looking for LPG fueling stations. Must be serious about going.

I am going to go over on the wednesday and hopefully book a ferry Dover/Dunkirque for around 1300/1400 hrs. If there are still places available as I notice they are booking up fast and spaces are few. I intend to return on the Sunday as I have things to do on monday.

I am flexible on the ferry times, but the places left are very early on the wednesday which would mean me coming up on the tuesday and staying on Marine Parade until joining the ferry.
