Brian and his team have done a fab job of securing our usual
101 area to camp on.
The addition of the loos makes the team happy and the sight of
all the old English tanks near to arena remind you that we are
"Home" amoungst lots of green machines.
I spotted 2 Shermans, comet, M10 Achilles, etc

An impressive rolling thundering storm just passed through tonight
but we all chipped in and took all the masts down and helped
the Chambers with their less capable tent awning to stop it blowing
into the next county.
All seems to have gone past now at a rate of knots.
At least it damped the air after such a hot scorching day
of none stop bright sunshine and no clouds till the dramatic
ones tonight - it also spoilt the possible extra "film" night !

The 101 have been invaded by a light weight and (real) wolf
LR.
It seems having a trailer is the new "must have" !
Nice to be back on site with most of the regulars.

Two contrasting photos within 2 hours of each other !
Still had a great time during the day.
A big thank you to Brian and his daughter who got us all organised this
year - very successfully - last day tomorrow but some going home on monday
to be more a relaxed departure.

Got home yesterday evening, glad to say the new head gaskets have cured my coolant loss issues.
The thunder-storm was the most dramatic I have ever seen...staying up until 3:30am watching it while drinking beer was very pleasant.
Really cannot complain about the weather, the storm was the price we paid for the scorcher we had in the previous days.

Big thanks to Brian for organising things on-site, and to David for his hospitality...but he really must get rid of those aluminium saucepans as they cause some serious memory issues.

We have also discovered a new eating champion. Ian...I think you need to get some kevlar gloves for eating your Kebabs, the speed you eat its only a matter of time before you lose a finger!

Roll on Tanks, Trucks and Firepower :)

ps...I meant to mention, the new head gaskets have cured my coolant loss issues.

Thanks Guys will pass this on to all who helped set things up. They even turned up for the weekend to assist in the de-camp, what a team.

Well after a great week, with some terrific weather, and a couple of thunder and lightening storms with horrendous rain at one point, we made it home last night.Took nearly an hour to leave the venue, due to lorries with low loader trailers getting bogged down in the mud, and being towed out by a D4 Cat and an unknown tank.

We met a few old friends and made more new ones, David Todd must be thanked for the great Curry night on Wednesday, which went on to the early hours, watching Shaving Ryan's Privates. with authentic smoke from the camp fire drifting through, to give that bit more atmosphere. Great night guys, Thanks from the Team.

In the end 11no 101's where in the spot - 3no. Radio Bodies, 5no. GS and 3no. Ambi's. and we were visited by at least another 5no. club members and their 101's during the week. Plus there was a number of other vehicles within the stand 2no. Lightweights, LR90 Wolf, Dodge GS 1954, MT350, XT250, Steve's Saab (as he was experiencing problems starting the 101) a couple of Freelander's, a Ducato Campervan and a Bipper van. What a mix, but a big thanks to all who turned up, in whatever vehicle you turned up in.

We had club member (not a forum member) Tom Elen and his son on the site again, with their Ambi and Lightweight, nice to see them again. Rob Hallam with his Rad Bod, The Scottish Branch, Les, Morag (Fay), Davie and Jordan with the Ambi and Rad Bod, Steve with Ambi and new 9x9, which was tested for leaks, and the GS of Narune (Ian), Chambers101 (Viv and the boys), Mark Spires, Mikethebike (Mike) and of course Papa Smurf (Dave) and extended family and friends.

Plus a whole host of friends, family and mates.

The sight of someones bra flying from Les's 8metre Mast will stay with me for a while, apparently it was damp and needed drying out. The Papa Smurf's tented village lived up to it's name and was contained behind a Hi-viz barrier.

Might have to do this one again, next year.....

Hmmmm, kebab in Dublin awaits!!!!

I've now ordered 5 new fan belts just in case either the 101 or I need a snack.

Can't make tanks & trucks and I how I didn't blow a cylinder head gasket.

Fingers crossed.

Dave, please keep your eyes open for the fairlead chap.

Thanks again for a great week and I'm still surprised to hear about the full moon in the middle of a storm on Friday night/Saturday morning.

We had an ok journey back, took over an hour to get out due to low loaders getting stuck.
We managed to get all the way past Reigate without a problem but just after the big hill there was a cough and fuel line problems were back, mum managed to keep her going and we got stuck on the hard shoulder under a bridge behind a camper with a trailer with a Jeep on it. He moved his camper forward and we got off again only for the fuel lead to stop again at the Leatherhead junction.
After a minute the old girl started again and got us to Cobham Services where we had a snack and rang our friend. We managed to get her to our friends a few miles away at Ripley and dropped it off there. He gave us a lift back home so at least we got back home ok.
Was tired so didn't post this yesterday.
Had a good time making new friends, thank you to everyone who helped with our tent and for David for letting us take shelter in your tented village. Thank you to Brian and company for setting everything up there.
