When?

I for one have used up my holiday allowance until next Easter... As it takes two days to drive up there, and 2 to get back (from Somerset) I can't make it until at least then!

I did 800 mile round trip back to Kent (Military Odyssey) on good old unleaded this year plus a couple of hundred miles of running around. The Highlands would probably be nearer via Larne-Stranraer but I've other plans next year (Plain Invasion and Dunsfold). Wouldn't mind following year though.

Confidence wise it's nice to do it in convoy if you are new to 101s plus it's more sociable and gets even more looks! 8)

Certainly does! We had a convoy of FOURTEEN once at one of the Co Durham events!

Hi there

I would have no excuse not to attend as I live 15 miles approx south of Inverness. (Unless I have a Rally on.)

Regards

Allan

I'd be very interested in a trip up north some point next year. South coast to Coniston wasn't too bad going this year!

Cheers

Nick

Hi All,
Put me down for that one! I'll have to get the lpg fitted though as I think I might have caused the recent petrol price hike by using so much of the stuff :?

Serious question now.

Who would really be interested in a 101 gathering up in the Cape Wrath area - the most remote and spectacular area in the UK and at the heart of Europe's last wilderness?

I know the chap who owns the mountain that Jeremy Clarkson drove up in the Disco 3. It MAY be possible to arrange a drive and camp on his estate. I haven't asked yet but if enough people are interested I'll see what can be arranged.

Please only expess an interest if you are really interested and willing to travel that far.

Would be great to take a few 101's up it!!!

What a photo opportunity!!! does anyone have a chopper, for an Aerial shot????

Honestly, sounds great, would have to work out the cost.......its a bit far for me, might need the help of a super tanker to get me there!!!

Hi Keith,

i possibly could be, i have a sister on Orkney so could dump the wife there and come and play

i drive along the north coast last year on the way back from Orkney and down the west coast, it was in the car but it realy was a fantastic drive!

also dropped a boulder of the bridge at Kylesku (making sure no boats were about) it took for ever to hit the water

keep me informed

Lindsay

Me for one. I've been up there a few times now, and it is the most fabulous place to visit, if you are into spectacular scenery, and low human population density. One of my favourite places to visit near there is Sandwood Bay, only accessible by a five mile walk, but is a huge white-sand beach facing the Atlantic. On windy days, the surf is something to behold! Only a few miles south from Cape Wrath, with no vehicular access to the coast between it and the cape.

There used to be a small campsite at Oldshoremore, a few miles south of there, but last time we were there we couldn't find it so perhaps it has closed.

It is only 650 miles from home, less than a tank and a half. :)

As for the time-of-year, might I suggest mid to late May? It would be before the midges wake up, and still have wonderfully long daylight-hours. The fact that I will be up in Scotland about that time anyway is not influencing my choice of time at all, honest!

Roger.
