Done the following in the 101,

Kardknott pass - Cumbria
Wrynose pass Cumbria

A686 - Penrith to Melmerby, Cumbria

B6270 - Keld and Reeth, North Yorkshire

If your up in North Yorkshire or the Lakes count me in.

If I ever win the lottery it'll be a full tour of the Scottish highlands and isles in the truck. The coast road above Lochinver past Clachtol and Stoer is spectacular, as are many others across the highlands!

Hack Green is a good morning out, the guy down has a large selection of ex mod land rovers all over his fields and garden!
Nantwich is about 45 mins away from the Cat and Fiddle (Macc to Buxton road) so the 2 could be done on the same trip.
The road near my house must class as one of the steepest? you could test your metal and pop in for a brew at the same time?

Highlands of Scotland is something we would love to do in our 101. But how can you justify the petrol bill?
Here is my logic. Could convert to 200 TDI at a rough cost of between one and two thousand pounds. Lot of work involved and my 101 would no longer be standard and possibly worth less, so spend £1500 on petrol and take three months on a once in a lifetime trip in a vehical that will get you to the very best wild camping spots.

An easy one is a trip to the highest roads in England - the highest A, B, C and U roads are all within a few miles of each other and make an easy circle.
A689 - Cowshill to Nenthead
B6277 - Middleton in Teesdale to Alston
C-somehing - St Johns Chapel to Langdon Beck (joins the first two)
U 22.5 - Ireshopeburn - Harwood (joins the first two again)

Ah yes thats good old Alan Kind's high road list. It does include many unsurfaced roads many of which are now closed to vehicles. Years ago I drove no 2 The Corpse Road, again now closed. Highest legally driveable in England is currently no 6 - Grasshills (U22.5 on my list) - not tarmaced but an easy drive. Quite often go up there - in fact just this week we went over to Weardale and took the slow route over Grasshills - its always awesome although can be rather hostile in winter!

And don't forget if you do the Durham high roads circle you aren't that far from Tan Hill - the highest pub too!!

I drove the Corrieairack Pass in the early 70s, when you still could - really glad I did it then!
We were in a 109 LR, with an 88" and an early RangeRover.

Good old days :D

The F910 across Iceland is a memorable road, especially the southern option (strangely, the route divides into a southern and northern part, both labelled F910) which includes a 1km wide river crossing (actually a glacier outfall) ...

Bendy roads in UK: the A82 north of Tarbet on the shores of Loch Lomond takes some beating.

Steep hill: there is a minor road ascending the Long Mynd from Asterton in Shropshire which had me thinking what I would have to do if it jumped out of gear, and how much time I'd have to do it!

Scenic Drive: The B689 from Lochinver to Unapool is particularly spectacular: on a clear day you get fabulous views of mountains, sea, and islands.

Roger.

Does driving from Penrith through whole UK down to Dover and than via France, Belgium, Germany to Poland (using slow and scenic routes when possible) counts?

I also managed to do both Romanian passes but not in the 101.

Roger, the road in Iceland. Would you have a guesstimate of its length and how long it would take to drive it?

Steve

The F910 is a long road, with many sections, but one of the sections that really stands out is the one that goes east/west across the high ground just north of the Vatnajokull glacier.

From the campsite at Drekagil to our next stop at Gaesavoten is about 100km, and it took us almost 10 hours to drive (including one stop for lunch). We had good weather for driving, overcast, cool, but mostly good visibility, and mostly dry (we had a brief bit of drizzle passing the "trolls" near Kistufjall which gave us some fine rainbows). We started at about 700m elevation, climbed to about 1250m, then descended to 900m. The first 15/20km was soft sand, and there was a bit of a breeze and dust made visibility limited (about 50m); but after that it was clear.

A lot of bends: I certainly felt my arm muscles the next day!

Roger.
