Plate details:*
Truck General Service
FFR 1 Tonne 4x4 LHD
Chassis: 96400329A
Vehicle : 70 FL 76
Code: 1850-5750
Repair Classification: 96100504E

For Sale:
On behalf of a good old friend I have been asked to sell his
Landrover 101 Forward Control FFR. Believed to be a 1976 . Currently on a Q Plate
There are a few pictures below and as anyone can see, she does need work. The 101 hasn’t been used regularly for over 10 years that he can remember although it was started last year and ran sort of ok.
All the drive train/gearbox etc apparently works as it should or, did the last time it moved. The chassis seems reasonable to me, not the worst I’ve ever seen by any means. The rear cross member does show signs of a bit of maggot though. She’s a Left Hand Drive and fitted with her original Petrol V8 which still has the ‘proper’ huge alternator fitted for FFR use. Not sure if the under floor winch is still there ...being honest.... I forgot to look!
The worst bit is that, unfortunately he started to convert her into a camper a few years ago and has removed the bed side boards .....or sort of ‘amalgamated’ them into the camper body I can’t work out which! The interior of the camper is not finished and needs lots of work to make even vaguely useable in my opinion. Also the canvas and sticks has long gone, although the double hoop proper 'roll bar' behind the drivers/passengers seats is still there. It looks like he’s fitted old range Rover seats in the front and although she does have reasonable tyres on her they are a lot smaller than the original.....the rims though appear to be the proper ones. The rest of the interior is also in a bit of a mess but again....not really that bad if you’re used to working on ‘restoration’ jobs ... Oh yeah ... somewhere in the house he does have a registration document .
What else can I say? You really do need to have a look and/or see what you think then... make an offer.....By arrangement I could possibly sort a battery out and maybe fire her up before you come? All negotiations will be through me to him....yes I know that can get complicated.... but that’s the way it’ll be done. The vehicle is in The Forest of Dean and is definitely for sale ....so ......!
What else can I say? Here’s an ex army Landrover 101 FC FFR.....I hate to say things like “rare” or “sought after” but using plain speaking.....there’s really not that many left out there to buy is there?...So!.
Any other details you need to know or want me to find out before you travel to view, please shout and I will do my best to answer.
Let the haggle commence! Cheers Bob

Bob hasn't said on the other forum either - email him and ask (he'll probably say "make an offer"!)

My background....
Well....I have tackled a lot more than for what I see in this Land Rover before....

Have been building Land Rovers from the time I was a little boy...(well...helped my dad.... ) So I'm not to worry about a project like this...
Getting it home..(Netherlands) is an other story...

But thanks for the remark, I have sent the person an e-mail......
