I agree.

I can't see the point of the "Seen something on ebay?" section.

I would say the idea is that club members alert each other to parts for sale that they may not want themselves but, may be of use to others looking. Its then the individuals choice as to whether they bid & pay the asking price or not. You could of course keep your discovery to yourself & bid in secret if you wanted it, but chances are someone else would spot it & list it here anyways, but then again they may not..
This section is good as it provides a rough guide to value of an item as well as provide info on something that someone might have missed out on otherwise.
The downside is it may increase opposing bids but then if an item is desperately rare & needed then one would have to pay more anyways. An old fire extinguisher like this is nothing special as they come up regularly, so a case of do you want it & if so how much are you prepared to pay, regardless of who else bids.

The Armstrong and Harley Davidson MT Riders forum have a rule that only "BIN" pages can be displayed rather than auctions, thereby preventing people on the forum bidding against each other on something that is brought to everyones attention.

Of course you could always wait for the shows to come around as I've done because I was sick of getting out bidded :( , I was only after two fire extinguisher but end up buying five in a deal for £60.00 pounds "VALUE", then sold 3 off, this paid for the day ticket, food and drinks, fuel to and from, of course the two extinguishers work out for free, still had money left over :D and I also forgot to tell the wife
