Dear all,
I have just registered with your forum and hope i have posted this message correctly.
My name is Andrew and I'm based in Somerset. Currently the sunny south West of England.
I have reached my forties and feel a mid life crisis approaching !
Back when I was twenty I was a very lucky chap and owned a 101 forward control which was purchased directly from PE Aston Down in Stroud. Being a student the vehicle was uneconomical for me to run as a V8 so I dropped in a brand new 200 Tdi defender engine instead. Complete with a new overdrive. After around four years and maturity struck home it was obvious the 101 was going to be sold so i could afford a deposit for a house. Anyway twenty years later I Googled the registration A215VYC and a picture of my land rover came up towing an ice cream van in Tenby Wales. The picture was nine years old. Also the vehicle hasn't been on the road for nine years. So if anyone can help me find or locate this specific vehicle I would be most grateful. VIN 95601050A
Thank you for reading my post.
Kind regards
Andrew

Any information on how I can track this vehicle down would be appreciated. GDPR does make life difficult these days.
Please email Andrew at [email protected]
Many thanks in advance.

Andrew, I assume you have checked the DVSA database which shows vehicle is on SORN and last V5 change was in 2012, MOT expired 2007.

Yes that is the soul destroying part.
Why has it been off the road for so many years. I have tried to find the original receipt to whom I sold it to? I believe it was either to Pembrokeshire ice cream company or an associate of that business. It was purchased to pull the Range Rover Ice cream Vans off the sand. 101s are clearly rare but finding my old one has become somewhat of a headache.
So if anybody is able to help and knows the area of Tenby well. Please do get in touch.
Regards
Andrew

It being Sorn means that someone is going to the effort of doing that each year, so I suspect it's languishing in someones garden or shed, on the hope of a retirement project or eventual rebuild. There is hope.

Dixy,
In my dreams maybe but in reality unfortunately not.
I eventually found an original photograph when I unloaded A215VYC from our low loading trailer back in 1993.
It clearly shows the military number of which I could only remember five of the six figures.
My miss spent youth was part of that 101. Great memories.
Even if it's not for sale it would be good to see it again and try to understand why it's in storage and not on the road.
A kind chap on Facebook possibly knows where it is. But I do not have any confirmed details yet.
Ironically we owned two in the mid 1990s. The other one we sold on for around £1500. How times have changed.
