I have a set on my 101, but they are tatty. I could take them off, send them for galvanisation if that it whay I have to do, but I would like a new set or very good condition old set...

Any ideas?

As far as I know the wheel steps were originally annodised not galvanised, probably could strip back to bare metal and repeat the process.

OK.

Strip back means to bare metal?
Who can annodise?
Want colour?

I think what you are looking for is Zinc Electroplating.

that is the same as galvanising? The good old way?

I read that anodising eats steel.

Galvanising is the process of dipping steel into molten zinc, thereby forming an alloy at the interface.

Electroplating deposits a layer of the metal on the steel, with no intermediate alloying taking place.

Anyway, I thought they were cadmium passivated (hence the slightly yellow colour): but I may be wrong there!
Either way, if you grit blast them and get them galvanised, they will last you out. Just don't breathe the dust.

Roger.
