For sale, £750 3.5 V8 removed from an ambulance for a diesel conversion.

I bought this in 2005 for £950 as an MOD rebuilt and preserved engine. It has now done about 35,000 miles and had new oil and oil filter every 4000 miles. Fitted NEW when I bought the engine were; distributor, Newtronics electronic ignition (points still available as backup), carburettors, starter motor. It will be sold with a brand new clutch. The only thing not new on this engine is the viscous coupling which I think is not functioning. I locked it up a couple of years ago (no measurable change in mpg).
This is a 12v engine out of an ambulance. A NEW battery sensed alternator is included.

I will be sad to see this engine go, it’s just brilliant, smooth, quiet, powerful, balanced and tuned and utterly reliable, oh and it starts very well! The rocker gear is still silver and shiny when you look down the oil filler pipe, this is the sign of a barely run-in v8.

As it’s from an ambulance there is an oil return pipe for the compressor. You may want to replace this with the blanking plate (where a mechanical fuel pump sits).

The LPG kit I have for sale was set up for this engine too.

Asking price £750.
PM me for more details.

Location York area.

Andy
If you feel like selling the oil return pipe seperately, I'd quite likely take it off your hands. Can probably supply a blanking plate to replace it as part ex too :)

ok, if you want the adaptor I'll do a straight swap for a blank plate.

P.S. the oil return pipe is just a 15mm (I think) rubber hose. The adaptor is the diamond shaped plate with a short pipe welded on.

I made a feed pipe out of brake pipe fittings and pipe. the only tricky bit is the adaptor that screws into the oil pump, that's a unique part as far as I could make out but you can get round it.
