I have just purchased a 101 fitted with a Perkins 4.203, which the previous owner advised me was refurbished by Perkins, don't know when or what it has done since. It starts and appears to operate fine and can heard running for the next few weeks whilst it's removed. I will be replacing it with the correct engine, so it has to go, open to sensible offers.

Also available is an overdrive, it's not been driven by me but I'm assured it works fine. In addition there are a set of hi-ratio gears.

hi bargrip, my suggestion to you would be to keep the overdrive on the vehicle as you will find even with a v8 and standard gearing it will feel like you are over-revving the engine even at 50 mph whereas with the overdrive it will be a great deal more pleasant to drive at that speed. Much as i love perkins 4203s i cant fault you for putting a v8 back in as i adore my 101 (68FL48 "the shed") with its original v8 in 8) 8)
