For sale: the coolest campervan IN THE WORLD! No exaggeration - VW Campers might be cute, but they're all over the place - not unique, not showstopping, and definitely not of any historical significance.

Boris was bought HERE [http://www.101club.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4247] back on 2011 and extensively rebuilt over the last few years. This is a very reluctant sale (my baby daughter is now too big to fit in a cot in the front cab, and the wife is forcing me to sell this and buy a beige family-friendly camper ^rolls eyes^) and i'm happy to wait for the right new keeper.

Below I've detailed Boris's fascinating history and technical specifications, but the most important thing you need to know about Boris is that you will never find another campervan like this one.

When you're driving Boris, you see people craning their necks to try and work out what the hell that beast of a vehicle is that just went by. When you drive into festivals, people can't believe what they're seeing. We've been waved through security by old army guys reminiscing about their time serving with these vehicles. We've had photographers from Vice magazine wanting to take photos of the interior. Wherever you go, this van gets attention and kudos - and that's before you've even plugged your tunes into the banging stereo with Turbosound and Harman speakers. Everyone loves Boris. If you're driving Boris, everyone wants to speak to you and find out about it.

This is not just a campervan (although incredibly comfortable inside, with all mod cons and lots of hidey holes for all your stuff, including quite a few secret compartments) - it's a conversation starter, a party lair, and a sanctuary. With solid metal doors and nuclear blast shields on the original windows, you don't need to worry about being disturbed by the noise outside. And did I mention there's a top hatch, that will allow you to lie in bed and gaze up at the stars, whilst listening to that amazing stereo?

Boris was first dispatched to 4th Armoured Field Ambulance with BAOR Minden/Herford in Germany in 1983 before the Berlin Wall fell. In 1991 the First Gulf War broke out and Boris was dispatched to Al Jubail in Saudi as part of Operation Granby. Boris was part of DS1B 1AFA for the British troops advance into Iraq for Stormin' Norman's "Left Hook". Boris was 200m behind the "Iron Rain" MLRS waves. I have made contact with the original medic and have several photos and stories from this time. Boris was Demobbed in 2001 and sold to somebody in Nuneaton who then sold it to its previous owner in The Borders where it was converted to a camper. After many years of camping trips, Boris was left behind on a farm for a number of years when the owner got a new job.

We bought Boris in 2011 and spent the next few years rebuilding, renovating and improving. Boris has never let us down and it will be a sad day when we have to say goodbye.

Interestingly, we have just purchased 101 Ambulance 75 GJ 13 which also was dispatched to BAOR in 1983 and served in the Gulf in 1991.

It is in a state of disrepair and missing the origina drivetrain, steering, nod many brake parts, but we hope to resurrect it to running condition with a Range Rover V8 and automatic.
