Well, there has been some interest in two local shows, which might just attract some interest further a field.

Due to the lack of interest and /or committment from IMPS members, they cannot organise their annual show at Headcorn, so Headcorn Special Events are to take over the show organisation but retain the IMPS in name only.

Also during the same weekend, a show organiser from Kent, is putting together a show at the former War & Peace venue, The Hop Farm at Beltring.

There has been a press release regarding Headcorn, and to date, nothing about Beltring. But understand that something will be issued soon.

Given that the space within Headcorn is limited, whereas Beltring is certainly not limitless, is huge by comparison. Plus the fact that so many owners and public prefer Beltring, it will be interesting to see where this all leads to.

Unfortuantly, I am unable to attend either event as, someone has booked our vacation and will be out of the country for that weekend. Look out Rob, on my way to Southampton that Friday.

I will be keeping a watch on what happens with this, as can see it growing, especially with the growing uncertainity and feelings about the War & Peace Revival site at Folkstone, and the new organisers.

Hi Brian,
The show at belt ring appears to be two days, shame it could not be a few days longer as it would then be worth the trip? Unless they allow exhibitors to camp out a few days either side?

Mick

Hi Mike, Still a lot of words about this between IMPS and the Hop Farm organiser, all done very quickly, we will see what happens as the days go by, some very frustrated people out there at present. Still very early to find out any more, although have mailed the new show organiser and recieved a very quick reply. Especially as it took ages to get a reply from the new W&PR organisers. If I get any further news, will post it on here.

A little update..

A former board member of the IMPS is the show organiser for the new event at Beltring, taking with him and collecting more as we wait, former show staff from W&PR, who's services are no longer required at W&PR by the new owners. This new show has no contact with the IMPS or their show at Headcorn, and is understood to follow the former W&P format albeit under new management.

The initial show outlook is good, with quite a few of the military stall traders interested in the new/old venue. The local feeling is that this event will be one to attend, as there has been a few adverse comments made about the Headcorn event, being cramped and overcrowded. However some IMPS board and general members are staunchly supporting their Headcorn event. Its a tough one to decide. But the lure of Beltring is great, even given a little unknown at present.

The new event has been limited to two days, might get Friday as well, due to the late start and details/discusions between organiser and land owner. But can see this being extended in future years, if all goes well, this year.

Will be keeping an open view on these events as I believe these will expand, especially if W&PR does not work out. There is a lot of doubt and bad feelings out there about the 2016 W&PR at present, and the new owners do seem intent on stamping their feet on everyone.

I have made a committment to attend W&PR this year, not only to club members but family members as well, and just hope all goes well.

Unfortuantly I am unable to attend either of the Headcorn or Beltring event as I will be on holiday.

The "old" location was nice to return to.

It was really strange to try to work out where
you used to camp and what's missing.

It was a very small show.
You entered where the noon guns were by the
loos and modelling tent.
Down the right hand side was a combined beer
tent and 40 music and dancing lessons then a
tree and then the arena.
On the left was about 4/5 rows of stalls with say
6 stalls on each side.
Then it was mostly the fab Germans and there
heavy stuff.

The battles were good although a friend stuck
his foot in the now numerous rabbit holes in
the two viewers banks and has a treble fracture
of his lower leg.
Luckily it was right in front of me and the ambulance
so dealt with very quickly but now has tin
work to worry the airport scanners and off
work for a min of 6 weeks.
It was fun to see lots of familiar faces and a lot of
the stall holders just did not bother to unpack from
the Revival and just opened the doors of their vans
- they all reported better sales than at Revival -
slightly helped by the very low cost of being there I
suspect.

I can see it getting bigger next year.

They just need to have a better mobile signal
for entry and have a sign to say which is the
cash only entry queue.
