May I recommend this small but growing show.
http://capel-military-vehicle-show.com/index.html

So just south of Dorking so near to Gatwick.

The owners have two Russian tanks a T34 and T55 that get used for the usual
car crushing but also loud firings.
They offer free camping if coming in an ex army vehicle and you could stay
over for an extra night if needed.

Last year they got a operational chinook helicopter that stayed all day.
They let you crawl all over it and were very welcoming - same as the show staff.

Lots of loos / local beer tent and exhibitors BBQ and very child friendly.

They also got a tat excited digging a LR hole to drive across which then turned
into driving "down into" more accurately - photos on last year' post.

It's a good practice run for all your kit before the drive to Kent 18 days later.

I would agree, turning into a cracking little show. Organisers uber-friendly, even going as far as doing a walk around thanking those who had camped up.
I will def be there

I'll hopefully be at this one with my lightweight as will Paul Clark with his newly restored GS and his Radio body.

Was really pleasently surprised with this show last year, great event, great team. We are going to this, with both 101's.
Will be nice to see Paul Clark and his new GS, as well as everybody else.

Although life was a tad muddy underfoot on the Saturday - after the LR were asking
all the others what they were talking about !- the show really got underway with
lots of visitors and 3 helicopters as Andy the commentator has certain connections
or just he tells the worst jokes about pilots and they just want to buzz his
arena all day.
They had a local brewery called Firebrand and lots of vehicles on show.
I did not get to count the number of 101 as they were slightly scattered at one stage
but I would say about 6/7 that I saw.

The T34 and T55 tanks sorted out a car or two in the arena and the battle scenes
we're really rather good.
Slightly helped by a section 5 firearms dealer that lend out some MG and MP40
for the re enactors.

Excellent show..I had a great time...SOS Rob..didn't come over and say hi..no excuse...muddy start but got better...it's still a new show so have to forgive minor glitches...all staff worked hard and (nearly) everyone was polite...too many caravans and civvie cars & tents in the exhibitors field if you ask me but I'm sure the organisers had far more pressing concerns to police it....sterling job they all did to cope with the muddy condition....I shall be back.

Agree with Rob, excellent show. Very muddy, but the organizers were constantly on the go with wood chip to cover the more busy areas. The mud did mean the arena was much more entertaining.
Its not often you get the chance to have an upclose look at a Lynx, with the crew being mega-friendly running over the technical aspects.

I had a mild illness on the Friday night that affected my speech and memory...I think the Tonic water must have been out of date.

The show really offers something different and the organizers should be commended on their commitment and friendliness, they create a great atmosphere.

Mick
