I have a 101 here and a lightweight.
I am in the process of registering my lightweight, it was built in 1979 so just comes under the FFVE scheme.
The lightweight has passed it's first CT (I did change the lights to LHD versions)
I have French insurance and just need to obtain the FFVE certificate to request the registration under the "vehicle d'collection". One document I also collected was the proof that VAT/TVA has been paid in the UK from the local Tax office.
The 101 is still a project vehicle (after 5 years), however I have already obtained it's FFVE certificate.
I collected the tax certificate - just showed the original bill of sale and UK registration document - from the local tax office.
I then completed the FFVE request and sent it off with the required documents, it took about 6 weeks and I have the certificate I can use to register the 101 as soon as it's back on the road and has a valid CT test.
With the FFVE certificate, you receive a book of vouchers. When you want to travel outside of the neighbouring departements, you complete the vouchers and send them off a few days before you travel. One copy to your local prefecture, another to FFVE, the third copy stays in the book.

Good luck with the registering
