I still have not been able to organize a few 101 owners in the USA to get together or go on a short 3 or 4 day off road outing. I would love to hear from other 101 owners in the Western US and see if there is a logical place to all meet up in the future.

NW Unimog fest may be a nice place to have an appearance of a few 101's at the same time. It is in August in Oregon. We would need to arrange a formal invite as it is a private affair. They are most recentive of odd 4x4 vehicles. In fact it is amazing place to see many rare Uk and Euro trucks each year.

Any Folks in Oregon, Washington, BC Canada, Northern California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, or other near by states interested in participating in a once every three years 101 and other odd Rovers gathering? I am happy to start the organizing for 2013.

Cheers,
Paul in Portland OREGON

Hi paul, The big issue is distance? I had thought about driving mine too, Flat land rover club, but the distance being over 200 miles and top comfort high way speed being 50mph. Going east on the I 70 may not be fun with those 75MPH + cattle trucks??? Not many of us are brave enough to attempt a 1500 mile each way trip in an ageing truck. Back in the Uk things are easier, The club events are no more than at most a 200 mile drive! any major mechanical issue with the 101 and you would be stranded, I say this as my AAA policy covers a max 100 mile recovery distance for a trip in any direction or the nearest Dealer. No Dealer in the USA exists for an ageing 101, which would meen some large recovery bill?????? :(

Hi John / Paul... I'm too suffering from the dreaded mileage disease... I am stuck on the East Coast, well, not so much stuck, as this is home. We have a do over here, once had five 101's playing.
I used to hand out with the Flatland Rover club in KC, many years ago!
So - sorry, love to, but sadly can't. I think it would be further to get to Oregon than it would get back home to the UK!

Regards.

Howard

Our family's 101 GS made a nice showing at Unimog fest NW a few weeks ago. The folks there are some of the nicest truck/ auto folks I have ever met. Much nicer then the usual snobby Rover people we have come accustomed to in the US.

I highly recommend putting the highway gears from a Range Rover LT95 into the 101's in the US. I drive on the highway very comfortably with the upgrade. A newer 4.0 Disco block with an Edelbrock intake and Holley truck avenger carb and more aggressive cam help too :)

Is anyone in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, cali, or Utah? These are all within reach of my location in Oregon to plan a visit or road trip in the 101 for next summer 2013.

For those of you on the forum that live in the US and own a 101, how did you get it here? Did you buy it through a dealer, or import it directly? Any insight or tips from your experience would be very much appreciated. My wife and I are looking at a 101 in Europe and need to know more about getting it to Texas before committing.

Thanks!

Getting it to Texas is easy, fill out form 3520 and HS7 and book a RoRo ferry to the port of your liking TX is on the list of stops. Takes about 12 days to Newark and then the service goes all the way around the US and up the West Coast. You pay 2.5% duty to US customs for an import.
