Hi friends!
I have broken the cable of the NOKKEN winch/capstan of Martin, my 101 GS LHD:
Image

I don't know where I can found a cable, new or used?
Do you know a shop/factory who can remade the same cable a little bit more long (65m genuine but 80m will be perfect for me)
Thank you so much in advance!
God save the 101
Sébastien, Champagne, France

Sebastien , I think Les Adams posted the specifications for the winch cable on one of the forums here.
I read it and contacted the OEM British Ropes (now Bridon Fibres) but got no reply.
I would have thought any competent manufacturer of steel ropes (cables) such as lift (elevator ) companies could
make you one to your special order length.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Les did indeed provide the specification: see here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9601&p=86192&hilit=+winch#p86192

just in case you can't access the workshop section I've quoted some of the info below
The original winch cable was manufactured by British Ropes Ltd., Warmsworth Hall, Doncaster, Yorkshire. DN4 9JX. Tel: 0302 4010

The spec was 9 mm Dia x 6/19 STEEL WIRE ROPE WITH A W.S.C. 65 METRES LONG, WITH EE302 SWAGED ONE END & OTHER END FUSED & TAPERED. (DRG. NO. 582198)

Larger pulleys should be fitted to the winch fairlead and the swaged end shouldn't pass between the pulleys and a pulley has to be removed to allow the cable to be removed. The tapered end of cable is placed in a hole in the centre of the winch storage drum and secured with a grub screw.

Les.
as stated they are now Bridon Fibres: http://www.bridon.com/uk/

I have a brand new winch cable in my shed. If the offered price is enough..I may be tempted to sell it.
