ps. i think i mentioned in another thread -

i have a LHD 101 in the uk (where cars are RHD)

when i first bought the 101 i was concerned about the LHD aspect, but, since then, it hasnt bothered me.

you may find that you are quite happy to keep your 101 as RHD?

From the last issue of 6stud -

"LHD Hand brake cable 595462 £31.40"

"For club spares contact Darren on 02380 368631, Fax 02380 905304 or e-mail spares@101club.org"

Cant help you with the steering box though. But, again, id advise testing driving with the RHD truck - very soon, it may not be bad for you!

You will need to be a club member though, to take advantage of the club spares.

Mmm, saw that bit then decided to ignore it... :? :D

I think you will be better trying to find a lefthand drive rather than converting from righthand drive, unless there is a very good reason for keeping the one you have. It is a lot of work including changes to the chassis.

As he is here in Spain, and if the GVW or MAM, or whatever it is called now, is over 3500kg, I believe it has to be LHD to register it.
Even then it is not easy!

Yes I had to do that too.

It took about a year with all the paperwork but worth it. Now the 101 has an inspection every 4 years instead of every 6 months, and no tax!

Hi all, I am Julio, jj-le mate and I do live close to him.

My English is far to be perfect, but much better that the google translator that jj-le (Juan, for his friends... ) is using to try to be understood in this forum.

So from now on, I am his favourtie translator!

Juan has bought a FC 101, RHD, GS, and wants to get it "like new".
He already owns a Series one 86" in perfect condition.

His aim is to convert the 101 in what we called in Spain "Historic Vehicule", this means that most restrictions desapear, and no many limitations for daily use. The car must be more than 25 years old since first registration, MOT every 2 years, in stead of every 6 months for the so called "industrial vehicules", or every 3 or 4 years once the car is over 30 years old, no smoke test a MOT, no yearly road tax to pay at Townhall, and so on. Insurance is no more than 120,00€ a year.

That said, Juan wants to get it to LHD, because he likes to drive it often and he feels more confident with that.
There are a rumors in Spain that restrictions may come to the "Historic Vehicules" status, so Juan wants to do all the transformation asap. Juan is mechanic and has a workshop in Fernan-Nuñez, a village surrounded by olive trees and sunflowers, near Cordoba, on the road to Malaga. (Hot & sunny place at this moment of the year: 41º C today at 14.00h)http://maps.google.es/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=es&geocode=&q=talleres+juan+jesus+luna,+fernan+nu%C3%B1ez&sll=40.396764,-3.713379&sspn=12.558491,19.709473&ie=UTF8&hq=talleres+juan+jesus+luna,+fernan+nu%C3%B1ez&hnear=&ll=37.70501,-4.686356&spn=0.394402,0.615921&z=11&iwloc=A

Juan has became a proud memeber of the FC101 Club since 2 week ago, and he is training hard to learn English (not true at all... )

So, yes he wants to buy the LHD sterring box and the hand brake cable, just send him a private msg with aprox. sending cost to Cordoba, Spain. Probalby DHL can do it.
Juan wants to know how he can pay you for this (Credit card?, moneygram?)

So please, you all members, be quick in giving Juan whatever he does need, if not I´ll be working for him too many hours.  and I am invloved in refrubishing my Ligero" and greasy fingers do not like Pc keyboards.

I do not know, but i am under the impression that the various power steering modification / options negate the need for the 101 steering box?

I know you mentioned 'restoration' but a PAS conversion may also be a consideration?

 Getting a friend in isnt really going to help the situation much. If you want to view the parts available through the club them email shop@101club.org & ill send you the latest Sixstud with all the parts & contact info you require.

To convert RHD to LHD has been commented on for quite a while now & its not easy, but not impossible so please re read this thread.

LHD & RHD steering boxes are getting very hard to find now so either people want to hang onto them or they dont exist. One can go on & on asking but obviously with no responces it means they arnt available.

You have to weigh up what you have & need to do, with patience, luck & hard work searching the only way things can be overcome.

Getting a mate who speaks better english should only allow the original man better info on how big a task he is trying to under take. The 101 is no way similar to the normal series & a totally larger task which can be done but will be a long struggle.

I assume he has a RHD box to swap - they're worth more and I'm sure Craddocks would give him a non-exchange price.
