Sadly the time has come to sell our extended right hand drive 101 camper as we need something larger to accommodate three people for some longer trips. We have had some superb holidays in it (twice to Iceland (1999 and 2001), five times to Norway (taking in the Norsk Land Rover Klubb 30th anniversary national rally in 2005) and the first long trip to Austria in 1997 as well as holidays in the UK.
The101 has a 200TDi engine with 300 TDi manifolds and turbo with a TD5 intercooler. Cooling is by a Kenlow electric fan switched by water temp or induction charge air temp. It has a ZF 4hp22 auto box and 1.41:1 ratio transfer box. The gearbox cooling is through two oil coolers with a dedicated thermostatically controlled fan. High / Low and diff lock are cable operated. It also has a Detroit locker in the rear axle and power assisted steering. It had only done 7000 miles when we got it and has done 40000 now so the engine has only done 33000 from new. The seats are standard Defender and it has inertia real seat belts. Exhaust is standard 300 TDi front pipe and silencer with a large bore stainless steel tail pipe. The fuel tank is also stainless steel. The wheels (six) are standard with 225/85/16 tyres. The chassis and body are in excellent condition
The camper back is 3.1 metres long and with the roof raised gives about six feet standing room. It is constructed from a galvanised steel square box section frame clad in hard grade 1.6mm thick aluminium for the sides and back and 3mm thick for the roof. The two bench seats make into a large double bed, the kitchen unit is across the back with a four burner hob and a grill under. The sink drains into a grey water tank behind the rear axle. The fresh water tank holds about eighty litres and has a defrost coil from the engine cooling system. The hot water tank holds twenty seven litres and has two heating coils, one from the engine cooling system (thermostatically controlled so that it does not boil!), the other is from an Eberspacher so hot water can be had at any time. There is also an Eberspacher space heater for those cold evenings above the arctic circle (or Yorkshire)! There is a three way fridge to keep the bacon fresh and the beer chilled. The gas bottle rack (outside underneath) holds three 3.9 KG propane bottles. There is space for three batteries in the vented carrier under the floor. It has a sunroof above the cab. There is a large storage box above the cab in which we store walking gear, inflatable boat, camping chairs, BBQ etc.
Price is £20,000 which will include a set of six new tyres or £1200 off the price. It comes with lots of spares such as engine parts, wheel bearings, brake shoes, brake servo, gearbox, rear axle etc.
Please PM me if you need any more info.
