This is one of the 2665 land rover 101’s that where built for the British military. The production was split to approx 600 ambulances and approx 150 radio bodies the rest being General Service (soft top). Only approx 50 radio bodies were RHD and only approx 10 of the total radio body production (Including left and right hand drive) were 12 volt.

Just to comfirm this always has been 12 volt, it has not been converted to 12volt from 24volt.

It is painted in bronze green and does not have the normal 60 layers of army paint like the rest of the ex-army land rovers

It comes with a full 9 and a Half months MOT and is ready to drive home.

It has got a LPG conversion the tank is mounted underneath – this way it does not compromise the rear load area, the tank is a 90Ltr one which gives you about 120-150 miles range depending on your driving style.

It also benefits having electronic ignition (pertrononix) and a high voltage 40,000 volt “flame Thrower” coil.

The starter moter has been re-built and the chassis under sealed.

The braking system has been totally replaced with=

New Master cylinder

New Rear brake cylinders

New Front Brake cylinders

New Front brake shoes

All Brake hoses replaced –Front and rear jump hoses and front swivel end brake hoses

Copper brake pipes – on the front and rear axel and from the shuttle valve to the rear load valve.

New brake adjusters

New front brake springs

The Ht Leads and the spark plugs have also been replaced.

New Speedo cable

The wipers and arms have been upgraded with ones from 90 land rover.

The clutch master cylinder has had new seals and the clutch slave cylinder has been replaced with a nice new one.

All four tyres have excellent grip and depth – they are the continental type and look like they have not been on the vehicle for long – and have got loads of life left.

I have given it a full service and replaced all the fluids and both the gearbox, engine, front and rear axles steering box and the steering relay. I have even replaced the anti-freeze and the windscreen wash!

I have got some of the previous MOTs and receipts for money spent by previous owners

It is a bit unusual in the fact the most 101 radio bodies normally have two sets of doors in the rear – this one only have one on the side – with the space that the rear door has been covered up – by whom or when I do not know . This has been professionally done, perhaps by the army whilst in service.

The driver’s door top needs replacing - a brand new one is included in the sale.

The vehicle drives lovely and is very responsive when you press the pedal and a lovely drive.

ANY INSPECTION WELCOME!!

Im sure lots of people want a RH drive radio body.......but one has to remember there is a credit crunch on & with a large price tag then serious buyers would be few & far between

I cant believe it hasnt sold.

I'm sure its a conspiracy to make me spend all of my hard earned cash by having such a nice and rare 101 on offer for so long.

Mrs says I'm allowed to offer 50p. So I think I know where she stands on me getting another one
